Colorado Foreclosures Decrease In Some Counties
El Paso County in Colorado had an increase in foreclosures. The state had a decrease in the first quarter of foreclosure filing by almost 8 percent in comparison to the previous year, but the county increased by almost 3 percent. Colorado hasn’t had a large problem with foreclosures, but there has been an increase in a few of the counties.
There were more than 1200 foreclosures in El Paso County from January to March which is a 6 percent increase in comparison to the same time last year. Out of the 12 highly populated counties in the state there were 3 that saw a big jump in foreclosures and one that saw a small increase. Mesa County increased by 47 percent with foreclosure notices in the first quarter. Larimer and Pueblo Counties saw a 10 percent increase. Boulder County had almost 5 percent.
Overall there were more declines in foreclosures in the state of Colorado. Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Jefferson, Douglas, and Weld Counties all declined in foreclosure notices and final foreclosures. Mesa County took a large jump in final foreclosures with almost 50 percent. Mesa County got hit largely by foreclosure notices and final foreclosures. Many of the homeowners were unable to have their loans modified or a payment plan worked out. The remaining counties in Colorado managed to avoid the foreclosure problem all together.
