Condominiums are Foreclosing More Frequently Across the Country
Condominiums are finding more and more problems through the foreclosure crisis. As more condominium owners foreclose the more the other condominium owners in the same complex pay more money on their home owners association fees. Fewer services are being performed. Violation notices are being given out more often to a number of condominium associations to get them to improve the grounds.
The courts in Florida are overloaded with the amount of foreclosure cases coming in that they are being delayed for months at a time. It could take anywhere between 6 months to a year and a half for the courts to settle many of the condominium foreclosure cases. This could be good for news for the owners of the delinquent condos, but very bad news for those that are paying their mortgages and home owners association dues on time. Some condominiums are going without water since the association can not afford to pay the bill. Despite all of the money they have received from those that are paying on time it is hurting the ones paying since they don’t have many of the services that are supposed to be provided to them such as the water and garbage pick up. The grounds are being neglected more often. Then those that are paying on time will also receive a letter that their dues are going up since there are more condo owners that are not paying. It has become more discouraging for potential buyers to purchase condominiums since the associations are unable to keep up with the cost of maintenance on the complex.
