Foreclosures Effects California Cities the Most
Foreclosures continue to hit California, Florida, Nevada, and Arizona hard. California has the most areas that have the most foreclosures while the other three states have a few areas that have been hit hard. Nevada remains the top state with the most foreclosures in Las Vegas. Cape Coral-Fort Myers in Florida and Merced, California round off the top three areas with the highest numbers of foreclosures in the country.
California overwhelmingly has the most cities in the top 10 with the most foreclosures. The areas with the highest amount of foreclosures include Stockton, Riverside, Vallejo, Modesto, and Bakersfield. Phoenix, Arizona and Port St. Lucie, Florida are the last two in the top 10 highest foreclosures.
Other states that have a large amount of foreclosures are Idaho and Colorado. Boise City, Idaho ranks 27th and Greeley, Colorado ranks 29th in foreclosures. There were more than 800,000 foreclosure notices sent out across the country in the first quarter of 2009. In 2008 there were 650,000 foreclosure notices handed out in the same period of time. With the new Obama Administration incentive plan to encourage lenders to modify loans there is hope that there will be fewer foreclosures sometimes soon. There will be a total of $75 billion to be put out towards lenders that show proof of modification of mortgage loans.
