Foreclosure Top States
In the first quarter of 2009 there were more than 803,000 foreclosures. This is a 9 percent increase from the quarter before and an increase of 24 percent from the first quarter from the previous year. Several states have seen an increase in foreclosures that they haven’t seen since the foreclosure crisis has started. The states that have ranked in the top for foreclosures are still in the top and haven’t changed their situation.
Nevada is still ranked number one in foreclosures with one out of every 27 homes facing foreclosure. Arizona jumped to number two from three with one out of every 54 homes in foreclosure. California and Florida are ranked three and four. California has more foreclosures however with one out of every 58 homes in foreclosure. Florida is a little better off than the others with one out of every 73 in foreclosure. Illinois, Michigan, Georgia, Idaho, Utah, and Oregon round off the top ten states in foreclosures. Illinois, Michigan, and Georgia are very close to each other with a difference of two to three homes facing foreclosure. One out of every 135 to 138 homes are in foreclosure in the three states. Idaho has one out of every 147 in foreclosure. Utah and Oregon have one out of every 151 to 153 that are in foreclosure.
