Foreclosures Go Up in California and Florida
Florida and California increased in their foreclosures for the month of March. When comparing the foreclosure numbers to February, Florida and California jumped greatly in foreclosures. Florida managed to reach an all time high and increased severely in their foreclosures. Across the country there were more than 175,000 foreclosures which was a rise by 44 percent when comparing it to the month before. There were a little more than 121,000 foreclosures in February.
In Florida they saw more than 18,000 foreclosures in March which was an increase of 33 percent from February. California led the way with the most foreclosures in the month of March with more than 38,300 foreclosures. They saw an increase of 59 percent in their foreclosures.
There were more than 52,000 homeowners that entered the first stage of foreclosure in March in the state of Florida. California had 8,000 more homeowners that went into pre-foreclosure yet these numbers reflect a decrease in homeowners in pre-foreclosure status. The next month is anticipated to go down in foreclosures unless more people continue to lose their jobs and fall behind on their mortgage payments. With all of the programs available in the two states there would seem to be no reason why homeowners should lose their home unless they fall into some unusual circumstances. No program is full proof even though we would all like to believe that these programs will be completely successful and manage to keep all of the struggling homeowners in their homes.
