Alaska Foreclosures Increased in 2008
Alaska has been one of the states in the United States that has remained to have few foreclosures. They have continued to be able to remain out of the foreclosure crisis for the most part until the numbers for last year came in. Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley have seen the most foreclosures in the state largely due to having the most population.
Foreclosures increased 36 percent in 2008. Anchorage has had the most foreclosures in 2008 than they had in the past 15 years (1993). They have seen some of the highest numbers of foreclosures compared to past years, however, when considering how many foreclosures they have had to other states, they have had much less. South Dakota and Wyoming fall below Alaska in the least amount of foreclosures in the country.
Even though Alaska has seen their highest numbers of foreclosures it still keeps them as one of the states with the least amount. Places like Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley know that they will have to do something to improve their situation since their situation is becoming worse. They hope that they will be able to turn the amount of foreclosures that they have seen in 2008 to much less of a number in 2009.
