Pennsylvania Sees Increase in Foreclosures

Scammers continue to spread throughout the country. One state that has been hit rather hard is Pennsylvania. They have had increasing numbers of foreclosures which also dragged in many more scammers. In western Pennsylvania there are a number of homeowners that managed to lose their homes after handing over money to an individual who promised to be able to save their home. The scammer walked away with the money and the homeowners lost everything they were trying to save.

Knowing what to watch for is the best way to avoid being scammed out of your home. No company that offers help is going to ask you to sign papers or charge you for their work. If a company does charge it will not be a lot of money. It could cost a couple hundred, but even at that it is recommended to find a non-profit organization that will offer their help. These companies will never tell you that it is a for sure thing that you will be able to save your home. The counselors that work with non-profit organizations will never say it is guaranteed you will keep your home. It is always risky but you must try everything that is available as long as it isn’t too risky.

In western Pennsylvania they have had increasing numbers of foreclosures. In various counties there were a total of 4,719 foreclosures in 2008. There were more than 1,200 in the city of Pittsburgh last year. In 2007 the city had about 1,360 foreclosures. In Penn Hills there were 338 foreclosures in 2008 leading the other counties by more than 100. In 2007 the county experienced a little more than 300.

Mckeeport, Pennsylvania had 120 foreclosures in 2008 and nearly 150 in 2008. Other counties such as Brookline and Sheradon had reached almost 100 foreclosures and in Perry South they had a little more than 50 foreclosures.
